Avoid combining sildenafil with other erectile dysfunction treatments. Do not take more than one tablet within 24 hours.

The effects can last up to six hours and you should start to feel the effects within 30 minutes to an hour after taking it. Note, however, that sexual arousal is required in order for the treatment to work.

Are there any side effects to sildenafil?

As with any medication, there is a risk of side effects when taking sildenafil. These include:

• Nasal congestion
• Palpitations
•  Blurry vision
• Hot flushes
• Headaches
• Indigestion
• Allergic rashes
• Vomiting/nausea
• Diarrhoea

Serious side effects are rare. If you experience any of the following, stop taking the medication and seek further medical advice:

• Loss of vision
• Seizures
• Chest pains
• Severe skin reactions
• Prolonged erections, longer than four hours
